Living by Faith: Evan's Birthday Party

Evan's real birthday was a month ago, but we've been so busy that his party had to wait a little while. I'm pretty sure he didn't mind having an entire month to celebrate! :) Plus, waiting meant that he got to see his "titi" (auntie) Shana and "gunkle" (unle) Kyle. Our party theme was drums since Evan has been so enamored with the drums for most of this last year, which for me means that his invitations had a drum on them and his cake was shaped like a drum (although fondant might not taste so great, it sure does a lot to help you make cakes into just about anything!). It was a family party (with mostly adults), so I didn't plan any activities, but Evan did manage to get out ALL of his drums and jam with some of his second and third cousins. And it was a great time for the adults to catch up. This was (believe it or not) the first time I had seen half of the people who came to the party since we've been back almost three months now.

And Jon and I were excited to give Evan his birthday gift--finally!--after having it for almost 2 years now! :) A while back we found these kits by Cranium (one of our favorite board games of all times) for building forts. It comes with the fabric, the clips, and styrofoam tubes. The best part is that it is up to your creative genius to build whatever kind of fort or tunnel that you want. Evan and his cousin Isaac did get a little side-tracked playing swords with the styrofoam tubes, but they had a lot of fun after Jon set up an 8 foot tunnel for them to climb through at the end of the party! Little boys are so much energy...and Evan is certainly ALL boy!...We pray that this toy will provide him with entertainment for years to come! :)
